Spring Spruce Up Projects Taking Place In Southold

SOUTHOLD, NY — A series of spruce up projects will be taking place in various locations around Southold this spring, with some closures to be expected.

To start, at the Ray Dean municipal parking lot in Mattituck, parts of the parking lot will be closed off to the public for drainage, curbing and paving work during April and May. It is recommended that Pike Street parking lot be used as much as possible during that time, town officials said.

At the Southold Town Recreation Center parking lot, parts of the parking lot, located at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic, will be closed off to the public for drainage and new asphalt work during April and May. Motorists will be directed to park in different areas of the parking lot as well as in the Community Center, town officials said.

Finally, a solar project at the North Fork Animal Welfare League is set to commence, with construction expected to begin in mid-April and last until mid-June; solar panels will be installed in the dog pen area. Intermittent closures will take place in parking areas and on walkways, town officials said.
