Stainless Steel Display Cabinet Missing From East Marion Lawn

No, it wasn't on the side of the road, meant to be given away for free. If you have it, please return to owner, who says he needs it back.

EAST MARION, NY — Although the North Fork is often dotted with free furniture and other giveaways on the side of the road, in East Marion, there is one man really puzzled about what could have become of his stainless steel display cabinet.

The cabinet, which William Maffettone used to showcase sourdough bread for sale, went missing on Wednesday in East Marion, from the lawn of a house located on the Main Road directly across from the park and next to the church on the hill.

"Please return," he wrote on Facebook. "It was not a giveaway and it was not for sale."

If someone has it, they are asked to please, just put the cabinet back. No questions asked, he said.
