Tourist destinations are closing in preparation of hurricanes Idalia and Franklin.
According to CBS News, Hurricane Franklin, the first major hurricane of the Atlantic season, was labeled a Category 4 with 140 mph maximum sustained winds Tuesday morning. It has already caused "life-threatening surf and rip current" along the southeastern coastline.
As of Tuesday, Hurricane Idalia is considered a Category 1 storm,
with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph heading north at 14 mph.
However, it is expected to become a Category 3 hurricane before making
landfall on the Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday.

What to know about Hurricane Idalia

The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay has advised Florida residents to "wrap up preparations" as Hurricane Idalia moves. Storm surges of up to 12 feet,
heavy rains, flash flooding and tropical/hurricane-force winds may
occur, depending on the location. Several tornadoes are also possible.
A total of 23 counties in Florida have issued evacuation orders, 42
school districts have closed, air and train travel has been halted and
over 5,000 National Guard members have been activated ahead of Idalia's
expected landfall, per CNN. Ohio's Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team has also been deployed, and Duke Energy is mobilizing 4,500 workers to help respond to the impending storm.
Tropical storm warnings have also been issued in parts of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina."

Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023, Idalia made landfall as {a} category 3 hurricane. Damaging tornadoes, severe flooding from Florida to {the} Carolinas weakened into a tropical storm moving inland to Georgia and yes to the Carolinas. Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis visited Steinhatchee in Florida's BIG BEND region on Thursday, August 30, 2023 to survey the Idalia damage. Taylor County is also in the Florida BIG BEND region -{ & }- Governor Desantis said that region is w/out power. He also said 135,000 customers are w/out power in the state.
Idalia moved to the coast. North Carolina's Outer Banks would see rain -{ & }- gusty winds were reported. Tropical storm flash flood warnings were expected to be discontinued in record.
Idalia has ripped down buildings, topped trees, -{ & }- submerged entire neighborhoods. Governor Brian Kemp plans on visit South Georgia Friday, September 1, 2023. {One death was reported in Georgia as a tree fell on a car in Lowndes County along the Florida coast. Idalia is forecast to move over Bermuda by Sunday, September 3, 2023.
ABC NEWS, FOLKS, also stated online in the respective site that Idalia was moving off the North Carolina coast -{ & }- heading out-to-sea.
A Major Declaration was supposedly signed at the White House.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Statesboro, Georgia (9.97 inches) - Hampton, South Carolina (9.61 inches) - Citrus Springs, Florida had 9.48 inches. There was six to ten inches in North Carolina.
At least three tornadoes were reported. TWO tornadoes were reported in South Carolina; ONE in Florid damaging structures -{ & }- vehicles.
{Gusty winds, heavy rain was from North Carolina to Southern Virginia as a tropical storm.}
