'Stubborn' Fire Rips Through Southold Home: Fire Department Chief

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon, officials say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — Fire ripped through a Southold home Thursday afternoon, officials said.

According to Southold Fire Department Chief Ty Cochran, the house broke out in a home on Soundview Avenue at 1:38 p.m.

The Southold Fire Department responded; the Cutchogue Fire Department was also at the scene, as was the Greenport Fire Department with a rapid intervention team, he said.

"It was a stubborn fire," but firefighters extinguished the blaze, Cochran said.

No one was home when the fire broke out, he added.

Although the home was damaged, the structure was saved. "It is not a total loss," Cochran said.
