NORTH FORK, NY — Things just got a bit more blissful at the Sunshine Shack, located at Orient Beach State Park. On Tuesday, it'll get just a little bit easier to enjoy a day of tunes and rays as a shuttle kicks off to bring guests from Little Creek Oysters in Greenport to the beach in Orient.

The first of the "Sardine Can Sessions," Julia King is slated to perform at 4 p.m. Tuesday; owners of the Sunshine Shack have turned their vintage VW bus into "the North Fork's chillest stage."

The Sunshine Shack will be serving up its usual lobster rolls, hot dogs, and Cuban sammies, plus a whole lobster special with a 1-1/4 whole lobster, Latham's corn, and kielbasa. Ice cold beer, wine and cocktails will also be on tap, said Sunshine Shack co-owner Ian Wile.

"Want to play with worrying about the drive? Take the Sunshine Shuttle to the beach!" Wile said.

A shuttle departs Little Creek in Greenport at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., with return trips at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The shuttle costs $10 per person round trip and includes a free drink to be used at either location. Sign up at Little Creek or call 631-477-6992.

The Sunshine Shack opened at Orient Beach State Park last year, bringing an array of tastes and summer time treats and items to the shelves.

Wile explained the essence of his vision. "The basic feeling is that with everything and everyplace getting further out of reach, there must be room for a simple camp store. A place a kid can take a couple of sandy quarters and find something. Or a special snack. Or a treasure map."

Wile, owner of Little Creek Oysters in Greenport, announced on social media last year that he and partner Travis Zurawski had been awarded the concession at Orient Beach State Park, located at 40000 Main Road in Orient.

And so, Wile said, he and his wife Rosalie Rung, along with Zurawski and his wife Emily — were announcing the birth of their "Sunshine Shack" at Orient Beach. He added: "We want this to be a reflection of this special place and the people here."
