Sweet Mama Dog, Puppies Adopted, Left At Shelter For 2 Years

Can you give sweet Gram a home before Valentine's Day?

PECONIC, NY — Her eyes ache with the need for love and a forever family.

According to Gabrielle Stroup of the North Fork Animal Welfare League in Peconic, "Gram" is a Treeing Walker Coonhound, who came in to the shelter 2 years ago with 2 puppies.

"Her puppies quickly found homes and here she still waits," Stroup said. "She watches as other dogs find their families and she is just passed by. Why? No one knows why this sweet girl just keeps being passed by."

Gram, she said, is a nice, lovable dog, who "loves hugs and snuggles in the morning." She is good with most other dogs, as long as they're mellow; she does not like being jumped on, she added.

"Let's get this girl a home," Stroup said. "It's time she has a family to love."
