Tailgating Driver Charged With DWI: Cops

The Greenport man was arrested in Cutchogue, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A Greenport man was charged with driving with intoxicated after he was pulled over for tailgating in Cutchogue, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Walter Alvizures-Gomez, 24, was arrested on Saturday at 4:55 p.m. on Route 25 and charged with DWI, first offense; aggravated DWI: per se, no prior; driving without a license; and drinking in a motor vehicle on a highway.

Alvizures-Gomez failed field sobriety tests administered at the scene, and it was determined that he was intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
