Threat Made Against Greenport School; Police To Investigate
Although the threat was thought to be "unfounded," families have reportedly heard differently; police will investigate, school says.

GREENPORT, NY — A threat was made regarding the Greenport Union Free School District Wednesday, official said.
Greenport Secondary Principal Gary Kalish wrote a note to families and the community, stating that he had received a report from a student who said another student had "made a threatening comment about our school."
Kalish, a fellow administrator, and the school social worker met immediately with the group of students involved, Kalish said. "After our investigation, we determined that the threat was unfounded," he said.

However, later, district officials learned that many families were hearing different versions of Wednesday's events.
"Please know that we take this matter seriously. We have since reported those allegations to the Southold Town Police for further investigation," Kalish said. "We will provide you with additional information as it becomes available."
