Town Opens Cooling Center As Blistering Temps Soar
Social distancing protocols must be adhered to at the cooling center, officials say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — With a heat advisory in effect through at least Tuesday afternoon, a cooling center has been opened in Southold Town.
According to Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, the cooling center will be sited at the Peconic Lane Community Center, located at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic, from noon to 8 p.m. both days.
Social distancing and mask protocols must be adhered to, Russell said.
