Traffic Light at Site of Fatal Limo Crash in Cutchogue Now Functioning
The light at the intersection of Route 48 and Depot Lane has been turned on Wednesday morning.

The new traffic light installed on Route 48 and Depot Lane in Cutchogue, where a fatal limo crash occurred in July, has been turned on as of Wednesday morning, according to a report in The Suffolk Times.
The light does not have a left turn signal, but signs have been installed to warn drivers to yield before turning, according to the report.
Four women were killed and four more women were injured after a pickup truck crashed into a limo attempting to make a u-turn on that intersection on July 18.

Some of the surviving women and the families of the deceased women have filed notice of claims against Suffolk County and the Town of Southold for “negligent design, construction, maintenance of the roadway, failure to install the proper traffic control devices, failure to install a traffic light at a dangerous intersection and failure to place proper traffic signage,” according to one of the notice of claims.
Legislator Al Krupski has said that the traffic light has been in the works prior to the crash, according to multiple reports.
