Val, Sal Named At Mattituck High School

The students have demonstrated the "perseverance and commitment," needed to earn top honors for the Class of 2022.

MATTITUCK, NY — The Mattituck-Cutchogue Union Free School District announced its Class of 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian recently.

The Mattituck-Cutchogue School District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools Shawn C. Petretti, and High School Principal David A. Smith said that the student who earned the distinction of Mattituck Jr./Sr. High School Class of 2022 valedictorian was Olivia Mannino, with an unweighted GPA of 99.13 percent.

The student named salutatorian was Dimitra Pando, with an unweighted GPA of 97.94 percent.

In addition to participating in numerous clubs, activities and community service projects, both students have earned the highest academic achievements for the Class of 2022, district officials said.

“Both Olivia and Dimitra have demonstrated the perseverance and commitment needed to earn the prestigious distinction of Class of 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian,” Petretti said.

Olivia was vice-president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, jazz band, and select chorus, participated in the high school play and musical, performed at the Hampton Music Educators' Association competition and with HMEA Jazz, Suffolk County Music Educators' Association and with the SCMEA orchestra, and the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Eduction orchestra — and was a member of the Students Against Drunk Driving Club and the Interact Club. Upon graduation Olivia plans to major in music and biology in college.

Dimitra was a member of the National Honor Society, robotics club, botany club, yearbook committee, Interact Club, and astronomy club, participated in winter and spring track and soccer, and was also a member of the the high school student council, chemistry club, and the Mattitalk newspaper. Dimitra plans to major in electrical engineering in college.
