Anthony Palumbo Victorious In NY's 2nd Assembly District Race

"I want to thank the voters for giving me the privilege to represent them for another two years."

LONG ISLAND, NY — The voters have spoken, and incumbent New York State Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo, a Republican, has emerged victorious in New York's 2nd Assembly District race over challenger Rona Smith, a Democrat.

Palumbo took the lead with 29,340 votes to Smith's 19,386, according to an unofficial tally by the Suffolk County Board of Elections.

When asked for his thoughts after the results were in, Palumbo said: "I want to thank the voters for giving me the privilege to represent them for another two years. This was a particularly long election cycle in light of my primary and the intensity of the federal races, so it will be nice to get back to governing and remembering that, in the end, we are all on the same team as New Yorkers."
