Woman Caught Driving On Drugs In Cutchogue: Cops

She was stopped for failing to maintain her lane on County Road 48, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A Shelter Island woman was arrested after she was caught driving on drugs in Cutchogue, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Jeanine Velasquez, 40, was arrested on Sunday at 12:32 p.m. on County Road 48 near Silver Colt Rd. and charged with DWI-driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, police said.

Velazquez was driving a 2014 Chevrolet sedan west on County Route 48 and was stopped for failing to maintain her lane of travel; upon interview by police and subsequent field sobriety tests it was determined that Velazquez was under the influence of drugs, police said.

She was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where she was processed and held overnight awaiting arraignment, police said.
