Woman Charged With Felony DWI After North Fork Rollover Crash: Police

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A Cutchogue woman was arrested after she was found driving while intoxicated following a crash Sunday afternoon, police said.
Southold Town police said the incident took place at 2:51 p.m. on Route 25. Evelyn Kahn, 64, was arrested and charged with DWI, previous conviction within 10 years, a felony, as well as refusal to take a breath test, police added.
Kahn was driving a 2006 Subaru SUV west on Route 25 near Pindar Vineyards, police said. Kahn's vehicle sustained two flat passenger tires, but she continued driving, causing the tires to shred apart, police said.

Kahn then lost control of her vehicle and crossed over the double yellow lines, striking an embankment on the opposite side of the road, where the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof, police said.
Kahn was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest, police said.

Due to the severity of the crash, Kahn was transported to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital by Cutchogue Fire Department for evaluation; she was then processed at Southold police headquarters and held for arraignment, police said.
