LI Woman Charged With Stealing More Than $100K: Police

The Amityville woman was arrested and charged on Shelter Island, police say.

SHELTER ISLAND, NY — An Amityville woman was arrested and charged on Shelter Island with stealing more than $100,000, police said.

According to Shelter Island Police, after a several-months-long investigation, Jazmin Acevedo-Rodriguez, through unauthorized use of a credit card account and theft of monies from a financial management account, was found to have stolen in excess of $100,000.00 combined.

She was arrested and charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree identity theft, police said.

Acevedo-Rodriguez was processed and arraigned at Shelter Island Justice Court, where she was released on her own recognizance and told to return at a later date, police said.
