Worker Critically Injured In Industrial Equipment Accident
The man became lodged inside the conveyor belt housing of a plant screener, police say.

BAITING HOLLOW, NY — A 40-year old male worker is in critical condition after he became stuck in a piece of industrial equipment Tuesday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the accident took place at 12:12 p.m. on Sound Avenue; a person called 911 to report that the worker had become stuck inside a piece of equipment on the property and CPR was in progress.
Riverhead Police patrol units and the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance EMTs were dispatched to the scene. The worker was treated at the scene and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded; an investigation at the scene was conducted and police determined that an employee of BGLJ Servicing Corporation became lodged inside the conveyor belt housing of a plant screener used for sifting soil on the property, police said.
The worker lost consciousness while inside the small opening and was pulled out by his co-worker, police said; he is currently being treated at PMBC and is in critical condition, police said.
