Wrong Way Driver Charged With DWI On North Fork: Cops
The wrong way driver stopped and started a number of times before officers were able to stop the vehicle, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A wrong way driver was charged with driving while intoxicated in Cutchogue, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Douglas Aloise, 66, of Massapequa, was arrested on Friday at 8:28 p.m. on New Suffolk Ave.
Officers were alerted to a vehicle traveling westbound on New Suffolk Ave. in the eastbound lane, police said.

Responding officers found the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver, who stopped briefly, but then continued traveling westbound on New Suffolk Avenue, police said.
The vehicle stopped twice more but then continued on again, police said. Officers were finally able to stop the vehicle and Aloise was identified as the driver; further investigation indicated that Aloise was intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% alcohol, 1st; driving left of pavement marking; and failure to use signal lights, police said.
He was transported to Southold Police Department headquarters where he was processed and held until morning arraignment, police said.
