You Can't Make This Stuff Up: Uber Rider Wanted To Go To Guyana
A look at police blotter stories begins with Uber ride ending on North Fork: Rider hoping to go to Guyana was "headed in wrong direction."
NORTH FORK, NY — During the course of reading the weekly police blotters from local towns and villages, there are some stories that pop up that adhere to the old adage: "You can't make this stuff up."

According to Southold Town Police, on Dec. 3 at 11:32 a.m., an Uber driver, 61, called police about a man, 54, who had requested a ride east. The driver ended the ride at the Gulf gas station on Route 25 in Laurel due to lack of payment, police said.

The man told the driver that he'd left from his son's home in Queens — and was trying to get to New Amsterdam, in Guyana.
The driver told the rider "that he was headed in the wrong direction."

He then took him to the bus stop in Mattituck, at the man's request, police said.
