2-Hour Parking Limit To Be Strictly Enforced In Northport

This two hour limit is in effect seven days a week between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. No exceptions.

The Northport Police Department says it will begin strictly enforcing the two-hour parking limit at metered spots in the downtown business district in the Village of Northport.

The enforcements are in response to the concerns of many of the merchants in the Village.

This two-hour limit is in effect seven days a week between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

A vehicle may only be parked in a metered spot for two consecutive hours. Adding coins to the meter beyond the two hours does not extend the time limit, police say.

The meters are not in effect Sundays and holidays, but the two-hour limit still applies at metered spots on these days.

“By strictly enforcing the two hour limit at metered spots, we hope to provide adequate and more available parking for the customers of our downtown businesses thus creating a more inviting shopping experience,” the Northport Police Department said in a statement.
