9 Elwood Orchestra Musicians Make LISFA Festival

Students are picked for LISFA based on teacher recommendations and New York State School Music Association performance scores.

ELWOOD, NY — Nine outstanding Elwood student-musicians were chosen to participate in the Long Island String Festival Association’s honor orchestras in January, the Elwood School District announced.

Those who were selected were James H. Boyd Intermediate School fifth grader Raho Kim (violin); Elwood Middle School sixth graders Victoria Agrawal (cello) and Lukas Davis (viola), and eighth graders Jewel Li (cello) and Camille Zreik (violin); and Elwood-John H. Glenn High School freshman Margarita Agrawal (violin), sophomores Louise Hartough (double bass) and Raim Kim (violin), and junior Davin Li (violin).

"Selection into this festival is highly competitive, and being chosen for LISFA is a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication to learning their instrument," orchestra director Diana Gotzen-Berg said in a news release. "We are very proud of our students and are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful achievement."
