After Losing Their Home, 3 Bonded Siblings Need A Miracle: Northport Kitties Of The Week
Bonded siblings surrendered because of severe allergies in their owner's household are hoping to find a home together, the rescue says.

NORTHPORT, NY — Dahlia, Cosmo and Smokey, three bonded long-haired siblings who have spent their entire lives together, are this week’s featured cats through Northport Cat Rescue Association.
“Together since the day they were born, Dahlia, Cosmo and Smokey have never known life without one another,” the rescue said.
For four years, the siblings shared a home with the man who rescued them as kittens from near a busy roadway.

“He took them in when they were tiny kittens with nowhere to go,” the rescue said. “From that moment on, it was always the four of them — one devoted dad and his furry little family.”
Volunteers say the cats grew up in a loving home where they spent their days together.

“They curled up beside one another, chased toys, watched the world from a small window, and soaked up affection from the human they adored,” the rescue said.
But recently, their owner was faced with a difficult decision.
“His partner suffers from severe allergies, and after exhausting every option, he must now do the unthinkable — surrender the cats he loves beyond measure,” the rescue said.
Now, the siblings are adjusting to life at Petco in Commack after losing the only home they have ever known.
“These three confused and gentle souls are trying to understand why everything suddenly changed,” the rescue said.
Each cat has a personality that volunteers say stands out.
“Dahlia, the independent beauty, melts when she’s cradled in loving arms,” the rescue said. “Rock her gently, and her soft purr begins almost instantly.”
Smokey, meanwhile, is described as affectionate and outgoing.
“He turns into complete mush for belly rubs and happily melts into your arms the second you pick him up,” the rescue said.
Cosmo, volunteers say, refuses to miss out on attention.
“He pushes his way between his siblings just to get closer for love and his favorite thing in the world — being brushed,” the rescue said.
The rescue says what makes the trio especially unique is the bond they share.
“They’ve spent every single day of their lives together, comforting one another, sleeping side by side, and navigating the world as a family,” the rescue said.
Volunteers are hoping to keep the three cats together through adoption.
“We know asking someone to open their heart and home to three adult cats is no small request,” the rescue said. “But our greatest hope is for a miracle — someone willing to keep them together so they never have to lose each other, too.”
The rescue says the siblings are calm, affectionate and already fully adjusted to home life.
“Because they are no longer kittens, what you see is exactly what you get,” the rescue said. “No surprises — just three absolutely purrfect companions waiting for someone to love them forever.”
Dahlia, Cosmo and Smokey are spayed and neutered, fully vaccinated, litter box trained, microchipped, and FELV/FIV negative.
