Tiny Survivor Phoebe Still Waiting To Be Chosen: Northport Kitty Of The Week

NORTHPORT, NY — Phoebe, a petite and affectionate cat with a story of survival and resilience, is Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kitty of the Week.

“Phoebe may be small, but everything about her tells a story of survival, courage, and quiet hope,” said Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue.

Phoebe was found alone on a doorstep in Medford.

“She was trembling on a cold doorstep — fragile and far too small for the world she had been left to face,” the rescue said.

Northport Cat Rescue Association stepped in and brought her into a foster home, where she was finally able to rest.

“At first, we thought she was just a tiny kitten,” the rescue said. “But Phoebe is actually around 4 years old — her small size a silent reminder that life hadn’t always been kind to her.”

Despite her past, volunteers say Phoebe remains trusting.

“And still, she chooses to trust,” the rescue said.

In foster care, Phoebe’s personality began to emerge.

“She blossomed into the kind of companion who makes you feel like you matter,” the rescue said. “She follows you from room to room, gently presses her head into your hand, and looks up at you with a quiet, grateful expression — as if she can’t quite believe she’s safe.”

Phoebe also has a distinctive feature that makes her stand out.

“She has one little eye that makes her unforgettable,” the rescue said. “It’s a harmless congenital condition that causes her no pain, requires no special care, and she can see out of it just fine.”

Volunteers say it quickly becomes part of what makes her special.

“Somehow, it only makes her gaze more meaningful… as if it carries everything she’s been through, and all the love she still has to give,” the rescue said.

Phoebe gets along well with other cats and enjoys simple comforts.

“She never turns down a good meal and finds her happiest moments curled up beside you — finally warm and safe,” the rescue said.

After everything she has experienced, Phoebe is now looking for a permanent home.

“She once knew what it felt like to be left behind,” the rescue said. “Now, she’s waiting for someone who will never let her go. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is her.”

Phoebe is spayed, fully vaccinated, litter box–trained, microchipped, and FELV/FIV negative.
