In order to accommodate eligible food-insecure clients who cannot pick up food during the day, the all-volunteer Ecumenical Lay Council (ELC) Food Pantry in Northport will add a new two-hour shift on Thursday evenings, starting September 10, 2026. The new Thursday hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., are in addition to the pantry's regular hours (Monday through Thursday mornings, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
Located at 330 Main Street, Northport, in the lower level of First Presbyterian Church, the ELC Food Pantry is a mission of the Ecumenical Lay Council of Northport-East Northport, a 501(c)3 nonprofit association of 12 houses of worship and two local community nonprofits. (Visit www.elcfoodpantry.org for more information.) The pantry is open to eligible individuals and families living in Northport, East Northport, Greenlawn, and Centerport.
The ELC is asking community members who may know of people who might be eligible for the pantry's service to please pass this information along to them. Any questions can be addressed by email to elcfoodpantry@gmail.com or by phone to 631-261-4357.
