$112M Assisted Living Project Advances In East Northport

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — A proposed $112 million assisted living and memory care community in East Northport moved a step closer to completion after receiving preliminary approval from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency.

Silver Fox of Northport LLC is proposing to complete an 86-unit senior living community on about 6.6 acres at 1381-1387 Pulaski Road, according to the IDA.

The project calls for demolishing an existing 1,800-square-foot building, constructing a new 72,092-square-foot building and renovating an existing 1,600-square-foot structure.

The community would provide assisted living and memory care services and would be operated by Sunrise Senior Living Management LLC, officials said. Sunrise currently operates 12 senior living communities on Long Island.

The East Northport facility is expected to support 54 full-time jobs with an estimated annual payroll of $3.5 million once completed, according to the IDA.

"The demand for high quality assisted living and memory care continues to grow across Suffolk County," Peter Ganley, acting executive director and CEO of the Suffolk County IDA, said. "This project would provide families with additional local care options while creating local jobs."

Philip Kroskin, head of real estate at Sunrise Senior Living, said the company sees growing demand for senior care in the East Northport area.

The IDA's preliminary approval allows the project to move forward through the agency's review process. Any financial assistance for the development remains subject to a public hearing, additional review and a final authorizing resolution by the IDA board.

"Sunrise of East Northport will set a new standard for assisted living and memory care on Long Island, and we cannot wait to open our doors," Kroskin said.
