Attempted Beer Theft Leads to Assault on Employee in Elwood: Police

The man threatened the employee with a knife last week, police say.

A man who tried to steal beer from an Elwood store on Wednesday, Jan. 18 is accused of assaulting and threatening an employee with a knife, police say.

According to authorities, Strother Dukes, 36, of Huntington Station, entered 7-Eleven, located at 3041 Jericho Turnpike, and attempted to steal beer from the store at 12:46 a.m.

When Dukes was confronted by a worker, he assaulted the employee and threatened him with a knife, police say.
