Bald Eagle Dies After Falling In Centerport Pond: Report

The bald eagle, Dad, was pulled out of the cold water but later died, according to the report.

CENTERPORT, NY — A bald eagle died early Friday after it got stuck in a cold Centerport pond, Newsday reported.

Suffolk police said officers responded to a report of an eagle stuck in mud in Centerport around 12:50 p.m. Thursday. A good Samaritan freed the eagle by the time police arrived. The Department of Environmental Conservation was notified.

The bald eagle, named Dad, died around 3:30 a.m., Robert Schwartz, an administrator of the Facebook page Bald Eagles of Centerport, told Newsday.
