Bart And Lisa, Kittens Found Huddled On Roadside, Seek Home: Northport Kitties Of The Week

EAST NORTHPORT, NY — Bart and Lisa had only each other when they were found huddled together on the side of a road in Greenlawn.

The 4-month-old kittens are Northport Cat Rescue Association’s Kittens of the Week.

One evening, friends of the rescue were driving home through Greenlawn when something small on the side of the road caught their attention, NCRA said.

“They looked again,” the rescue said. “There, huddled tightly together, were two tiny kittens.”

Bart and Lisa were alone, frightened and clinging to each other, according to the rescue.

Thankfully, the car stopped.

Their rescuers pulled over, scooped the kittens to safety and brought them straight to a veterinarian before calling Northport Cat Rescue Association.

Almost immediately, something remarkable happened.

“These two terrified little kittens curled up in their rescuers’ laps and began to purr,” the rescue said.

To NCRA, it seemed as if the kittens somehow knew they were safe.

The rescue does not know where Bart and Lisa came from, whether they were lost or whether they were abandoned. They had no microchips, and despite searches of lost-pet sites and posts, no one appeared to be looking for them, NCRA said.

“We may never know how two young kittens ended up together on the side of a road that evening,” the rescue said.

But volunteers say they do know this: Bart and Lisa are among the sweetest, most affectionate kittens someone could meet.

“They are silly and playful, full of kitten antics one minute and purring in your arms the next,” NCRA said.

The kittens love being held and cuddled, get along well with other cats and adore each other, according to the rescue.

“We’re not really sure which one takes care of the other more,” NCRA said. “Maybe it doesn’t matter.”

What matters, the rescue said, is that on one frightening evening, when the kittens did not know what would happen next, they had each other.

Now Bart and Lisa are ready for the next chapter of their story together.

NCRA said the pair would be a strong match for someone thinking about adopting two kittens.

“They already have the bond, the love and the companionship,” the rescue said. “All they are missing is a family to share it with.”

Bart and Lisa are currently at Pet Supplies Plus in East Northport, waiting for someone to see them together and realize they are the ones, the rescue said.

Bart and Lisa are spayed and neutered, fully vaccinated, litter box trained, microchipped, and FeLV/FIV negative.
