Boat Catches Fire In Northport Harbor

The boat fire was extinguished and the vessel was removed from the harbor.

NORTHPORT, NY — A boat caught fire in Northport Harbor on Friday afternoon.

The call came in at 1:43 p.m. from the harbor off Scudder Park, Suffolk police said.

Tower Ladder 297 of the Northport Fire Department and Fire Boat 2-9-26 knocked the fire down, while Engine 298 stretched a hose line to help extinguish the vessel.

The fire was safely extinguished and the boat was removed from the water with teamwork by the Northport FD, Northport police, Huntington Harbormaster, Northport Highway Department, Coast Guard and Dave Weber from Seymour's Boatyard, according to 2nd Assistant Chief Dan Cross, who led the operation.
