Blogging Is Not An Easy Task

Many people get very excited to start their new blog without a strategy on how to keep it fresh and alive.

When clients come to me to get insight on building a blog, I am upfront with them about the typical blogger experience.

A lot of people quickly go online to buy a domain name, use a program such as wordpress.com, and are very excited to get started. However, once they start the process the fun starts to fade.

There is a lot of work that must be done to build your blog before it goes live. The daily maintenance takes a lot of discipline. If you have a passion about a certain service, product or topic you can build a very successful blog.

My biggest concern is that if you start to gain traction and take a week or two off, you could lose your valuable database. If time is a major factor, my advice to future bloggers is to hire a web developer to build your blog and teach you some of the tricks of the trade.

There are many resources available to grab content and this will cut down your blogging time. Focus on writing at least 4-5 times a week and keep it simple.

Lastly, think through what your objectives are for your blog. Will it be informative, educational, or offer e-commerce? These are a few things to think about before making a very large commitment. Most blogs have a very short life as their owners after that infancy period just drop the ball.
