Brother, Sister Jump Overboard to Avoid Boat Collision in Duck Island Harbor
The row boat was severely damaged from the collision on Friday, police said.

A brother and sister from Asharoken had to jump out of a row boat before it collided with a 22-foot Mastercraft vessel in Duck Island Harbor on Friday afternoon, police said.
According to authorities, Asharoken Village Police responded to the collision, which caused the row boat severe damage at 3:45 p.m.

The Mastercraft boat, operated by a Huntington man, was towing two people on wakeboards when the collision took place. The five people on the boat and the two people on wakeboards were uninjured.
The brother and sister on the row boat were taken aboard the Mastercraft boat, which also towed their sunken row boat to a nearby dock.

The Northport Fire Department rescue squad transported the brother on the row boat to Huntington Hospital for observation. He was later released.
The Huntington man was issued a summons for operating a vessel without an Asharoken Village water ski permit and a summons for unsafe boat operation.
