NORTHPORT, NY — Calypso, a 2-year-old female calico, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Cat of the Week.

Calypso has soulful green eyes, and, despite her age, has already had a litter of kittens.

"She was an amazing mom, very protective and took great care of her babies," said Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue. "When it was time to separate her from her babies she was sad. She appreciated the TLC she received and one on one time but there was a sadness about her until she finally got used to people and decided, 'Life is going to be OK and I’m going to be taken care of.'"

She loves to be pet, Wild said. The rescue decided to move her to its habitats.

"Sadly she is not doing well there," Wild said. "Too many scents , too much going on and she is confused and needs to go back into foster care. She is beautiful and craving attention. If you have a calm and loving home for this little girl, she will give you all the love she has. It is time for her to know what it feels like to be taken care of."
