NORTHPORT, NY — Candy, a 1-year-old petite female feline, is the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kitten of the Week.

"Here she is! The perfect kitty," Lora Wild, a volunteer with the rescue, wrote.

Candy lived with a family and was a little girl’s best friend, Wild said.

"You can imagine her confusion and sadness when her family moved away and left her behind in an apartment all alone with an open window," Wild said. "She was so scared she didn’t dare jump out. Luckily, a kind lady knew she was there and rescued her."

Candy is the "most adorable and gentle kitten," according to Wild. She makes biscuits all the time, even when no one is looking. Meowing at the top of her lungs, she is very vocal when she wants you to snuggle her. All she wants is to lay next to you and be pet.

"Still, she has a silly side too and loves to play with toys with anyone who will engage with her," Wild said.

She is good around other cats and doesn’t mind a gentle dog.

"Whenever someone meets her and sees her sweet face all they want to do is hug her," Wild said. "She is a dream and this little doll deserves a family that will never abandon her again."
