Coast Guard Rescues Man Knocked Unconscious in Northport Harbor
The man was airlifted to Stony Brook hospital in critical condition on Tuesday, police said.
A man was rescued by a United States Coast Guard member after police said he was struck unconscious by a sailboat boom and fell into the water at Northport Yacht Club on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
The man was reportedly in the water for at least a minute.
Police said the man regained consciousness and began breathing once he was on the USCG vessel.

Northport Rescue transported the man to Laurel Avenue School where Suffolk County Police Department aviation brought him to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for a head injury.
The man was in critical but stable condition when officials visited him at the hospital Wednesday night. The prognosis for a recovery is good, police said.
