Cow Harbor Weekend Festivities Set For Northport

Correction: The Great Cow Harbor 10K Race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Cow Harbor Weekend is coming to Northport. A fun-filled three days are on the horizon for the village from Friday to Sunday.

"Cow Harbor Weekend is a celebration of the Northport Community," the village wrote.

Festivities are set to begin with the Great Cow Harbor 10K race on Saturday morning at the William Brosnan School on Laurel Avenue. The run is considered one of the most prestigious foot races in the United States and is nationally ranked. Runner’s World has named the Cow Harbor Race as one of the top 100 races in the U.S.

Saturday afternoon is set to serve as a transition period as the remnants of the race are removed and the setup for the Cow Harbor Day festival begins. There are no corporate sponsors for Saturday evening or Sunday's events, as the activities are organized by a small committee of volunteers recruited by the Cow Harbor Committee chairman, who is appointed by the village board.

The annual Cow Harbor Weekend concert in the Village Park is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday. The Lighted Boat Display is set to be held simultaneously on the Village Dock, as trophies and prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated boats.

Main Street and the parking lots near the water are due to be closed on Sunday, as a parade is set to roll down Main Street at noon. Sidewalk sales and merchants will follow up in the park, along with rides and games provided by Newton Shows. Arts & crafts vendors are also set to take to the streets.

Music venues are slated to be spread throughout the village, along with boat races and other surprises.
