Dirty Apartment Leads To Police Intervention: Northport PD

A man called police to report that his girlfriend was yelling at him for their messy living space: Northport PD.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from August 12 through August 18.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

  • Eric Schmidt, 26, of Northport, did not have a Northport Village beach permit on his car, police said. He was arrested and charged with failure to comply with lawful order of the police, no seat belt: driver and Village beach sticker required on Aug. 16.

Incidents

  • Two kids threw toilet paper on a Clipper Drive resident's property at 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 13. Nothing was damaged.
  • Police responded to a home on Dolphin Lane for reports of someone watching a neighbor's house. When police arrived, the caller said it was a misunderstanding; the person watching the house was the new property owner. The incident happened Aug. 14.
  • A man with a cut on his foot at Northport Library was transported to Huntington Hospital on Aug. 14.
  • A Lewis Road homeowner reported a dispute regarding tree trimmers who were cutting trees behind his property, causing saw dust to blow onto his property. While the tree company said it would clean the man's property after the work was done, the man refused to allow anyone to enter his property. Both parties agreed to avoid each other for the rest of the day. The incident happened Aug. 15.
  • A woman told police that a man took photos of her and her friends as he walked by them on Main Street. The man told police he was an artist who goes around taking pictures of things and people in public. The man said he would not develop the pictures and delete them. Police told the woman that it's legal to take pictures in public, and the subject would erase them. The incident happened Aug. 15.
  • Police responded to Main Street for a reported domestic incident. The man who called police said his girlfriend was yelling and cursing at him. After police interviewed both, it was determined the girlfriend was upset with the man about their apartment being dirty. The incident happened Aug. 15.
  • A truck driver was hauling a large shed on Franklin Street, delivering it to the rear end of that street. Police asked the man if he secured the proper permits to add the shed to his property. The man said he didn't get a straight answer from the Village and that he finally just did it. The officer told the man the incident would be forwarded to code compliance. The man said no one would know if the officer just looked the other way. The incident happened Aug. 17.
