East Northport Armed Robbery Sends Area Schools Into Lockdown
BREAKING: The robbery occurred Wednesday afternoon, police say.
Sevearl nearby schools were on lockdown while authorities searched for an armed man who robbed an East Northport convenience store Wednesday afternoon, police say.
According to authorities, a man entered Sammy’s food mart, located at 35 Laurel Road, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and stole an iPad at 2:42 p.m.
Area schools were on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. Police said they did not ask the schools to go to lockdown but several did anyway.

K9 dogs searched the nearby LIRR tracks and train service was slowed during the search.
No arrest has been made.
