East Northport Cub Scouts Build Benches for Northport VA

The four wooden picnic benches are now enjoyed by veterans at the medical center's courtyard.

East Northport Pack 52 Den 2 Cub Scouts recently donated four wooden picnic benches they built themselves to Northport VA Medical Center.

The benches now sit in the medical center’s courtyard where they can be enjoyed by veterans, employees and VA visitors. Pack 52 were the first to use the benches and celebrated with cupcakes decorated in red, white and blue.

The boys have consistently worked on special projects for veterans. This particular project was made possible thanks to a donation of reclaimed wood by one of the Scout’s parents. Each Scout then earned $10 by completing chores at their homes that went towards purchasing hardware for the project.

The boys learned about the tools they were using through the construction of the benches, which took two weekends to make.
