East Northport Dentist Named Suffolk County Healthcare Hero

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Dr. Raymond A. Mascolo, D.D.S., of East Northport, was recognized as the 2026 Healthcare Hero honoree for Suffolk County’s 18th Legislative District during the Suffolk County Legislature’s June 2 General Meeting in Hauppauge.

Legislator Stephanie Bontempi selected Mascolo for the annual honor, which recognizes 18 healthcare heroes across Suffolk County, one from each legislative district.

Mascolo, a general and preventive dentist, has served the East Northport community for more than four decades. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, he completed his General Practice Residency at Georgetown University Hospital before opening his private dental practice in East Northport in 1983.

His service has extended beyond dentistry. Mascolo has served for decades as a police surgeon for the Suffolk County Police Department and as chief police surgeon for the Northport Police Department. He has also volunteered with veterans organizations, youth programs, public safety initiatives and charitable groups throughout the region.

Over the years, Mascolo has received multiple Man of the Year honors, the Presidential Medal for Volunteerism, humanitarian awards and commendations from local, state and federal leaders, officials said.

“Dr. Mascolo’s lifelong commitment to caring for others, whether through dentistry, education, or public safety, embodies the very spirit of a Healthcare Hero,” Bontempi said. “His decades of service to the people of East Northport and beyond make him an extraordinary and deeply deserving honoree.”
