East Northport Fire Department Installs New Officers

The fire department recently held its 111th annual installation ceremony. Members new and old were recognized for their service.

NORTHPORT, NY-- The East Northport Fire Department recently held its 111th Annual Installation of Officers, where new officers assumed their positions, per a release from Steve Silverman of the Huntington Fire Chiefs Council.

Daniel Flanagan was installed as the new Chief of Department. Thomas Bourne was named First Assistant Chief and Steven Macedonio was named Third Assistant Chief.

  • Engine Co. 1 – Captain Bryan Gosik, Lieut. Frank Giovinco
  • Engine Co. 2 – Captain Brian Hinton, Lieut. Allison Galofaro
  • Hook & Ladder Co. - Captain Matthew Cambria, Lieut. Vincent Pastore
  • Rescue Squad – Engine 1 Second Lieut. Barbara Strievski, Engine 2 Second Lieut. Katelyn O’Brien
  • Fire Police – Captain Anthony Casillo, Lieut. James Wagner, Chief Mechanic Christopher Radimer, Assistant Mechanic Jamie Conroy, Chaplain Charles Murray, and Assistant Chaplain Jon Desjardins.

Dan Heffernan, the outgoing chief, was recognized for his service from 2017-18 and received several awards.

Company Achievement Awards were presented to Thomas Bourne, Jr. of Engine Co. 1, Amanda Rose Candeloro of Engine Co. 2, Joseph Senese of Hook & Ladder Co., James Matthews of Rescue Squad, and Andrew Lasda of Fire Police.

Ex-captain Roger Putnam received the Paul Mathews Memorial Award, while Bourne Jr. earned the James Niemczyk Memorial Award.

Ex-Chief Bill Faltin was awarded for 50 years of service, Brian Olofson for 40 years, and Andrew Ritchel for 30 years.
