East Northport Orthodontist Featured in Medical Journal

An East Northport orthodontist made the cover of Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.

In the journal, Dr. Robert Schindel's latest research project at the School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook is featured as the cover story. The article, “Behavior Modification of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in an Orthodontic Setting,” was a joint project with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism in Commack. 

The research focused on a technique known as “applied behavior analysis” to facilitate the treatment of patients with autism. This was the first time it had ever been tested in an orthodontic setting and showed very positive results.

Schindel, a Northport resident, has a private practice at 378 Larkfield Rd. in East Northport and is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.
