East Northport Woman Charged With Stealing Charity Money Begins Bench Trial
The trial starts Wednesday afternoon.

An East Northport woman who is being accused of stealing more than $30,000 in charity money will begin her bench trial Wednesday afternoon.
Maureen Myles, 62, stole fundraiser money that was meant to help purchase a wheelchair accessible van for a Huntington teenager in 2013, police said.
She was charged with one count of third degree grand larceny, two counts of fourth degree grand larceny, scheme to defraud and petty larceny.

Myles was previously convicted of scheme to defraud in 2004 after she made unauthorized purchases of cruise tickets using 19 credit card numbers she took from her job, the DA reports. The account holders were reportedly charged for the purchases.
The trial kicks off at 2:15 p.m. in Central Islip and State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho will preside at trial, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
