Cameron Cacic achieved 34 Merit Badges, which is well above the Eagle requirement of 21.

East Northport’s newest Eagle Scout Cameron Cacic who went above and beyond his Eagle requirements was recognized at a ceremony at Trinity Regional School on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Troop 5 Scoutmaster Brian Autz said Cacic achieved 34 Merit Badges, which is well above the Eagle requirement of 21. He completed Scouting’s High Adventure Triple Crown and participated in adventures at Florida Sea Base, the Northern Tier and Philmont Scout Ranch.
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting and is accomplished by only one in 100 scouts.

“In my 15 years of Scouting, I have only seen two people complete the Triple Crown, including Cameron,” Autz said at the ceremony. “Cameron did pretty much everything that could be done in Scouting. Very few people make that much effort. It has been such a pleasure to have a Scout like this in my troop.”
Cacic graduated from Northport High School and now attends Georgia Tech University. He is the 38th member of Troop 5 to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

To become an Eagle Scout, Cacic had to complete a Boy Scouts of America-approved Eagle Service Project. He built a large cabinet for a food pantry run by the St. Vincent DePaul Society in collaboration with St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in East Northport. Cacic raised funds for the project and then designed the cabinet himself using a computer modeling program. He, along with fellow Scouts and friends, built and stained the cabinet. About $229 in funds left over was donated to the food pantry.
The ceremony featured several speakers, including Huntington Town Councilwoman Susan Berland, who presented Cacic with a proclamation. Cacic, who was the last speaker of the evening, thanked his parents, Autz and other troop leaders, fellow troop members and others for helping him to become an Eagle Scout.
