Elwood-John H. Glenn High School senior Dareus Smith will take his football career to the next level by attending Long Island University Post this fall on a full scholarship as he works to obtain a degree in business.
Family members, coaches and district administrators surrounded the talented Elwood Knights football player as he finalized his commitment during a National Letter of Intent ceremony at the high school on Feb. 3.
Passionate for the sport, Smith dedicated six years to the Elwood football program, playing two years on the middle school team and four years on the varsity team. Given the title of captain in his senior year, Smith worked hard as a defensive and offensive tackle. During his athletic career, he has been named to the All-State, All-County and All-League teams.
