ELWOOD, NY — Students in Christina Tellekamp’s class at Elwood’s James H. Boyd Intermediate School recently continued a holiday-season tradition of writing letters and creating inspiring card designs for U.S. troops stationed overseas, the school district announced.

The cards and care packages of snacks were mailed to the service members.

“My father was in the Army, and I want the students to be aware of what others are doing to help protect our country,” Tellekamp said via news release. “This year was extra special because we have a child in our class that has a father who is currently deployed in Africa.”
