Elwood Students Honored by Government Officials
The fifth-graders were recipients of two prestigious achievement awards.

Congratulations to Elwood’s James H. Boyd Intermediate School fifth-graders Ava Mule and Joey O’Hara, recipients of two prestigious achievement awards presented by local government officials during the school awards ceremony.
Ava received the New York State Comptroller Achievement Award, presented by the office of Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli to a deserving student who exhibits hard work and leadership while achieving success during the 2015-16 school year.
Joey is the recipient of the Suffolk County Executive Public Service Award, presented by County Executive Steven Bellone’s office to a student who demonstrates high academic achievement and conducts significant volunteer work during the year.

Both Ava and Joey were enrolled in Mr. Lauro’s class during the 2015-16 school year.
