Elwood Students Show off Their Lifesaving CPR Skills

Students participated in a hands only CPR training unit.

Elwood-John H. Glenn High School students showed off their knowledge of CPR through a hands-on simulation experience during their physical education classes.

During the weeklong study unit, students participated in group discussions and learned about CPR protocols and procedures. Physical education teacher Dave Shanahan led students through a step-by-step demonstration on how to respond when they witness a person in a cardiac emergency.

Working in groups of three or four, students exhibited the proper form for administering chest compressions as well as checking a person’s airway on “Anne” manikins.
