Elwood's John Glenn HS Senior Named National Merit Finalist

ELWOOD, NY — Anson Kwan, a senior at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, was named a National Merit Finalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, based on his exceptional scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the school district announced.

Kwan is now eligible to be considered for one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships.

“It’s a big honor, and I achieved this as a result of the work of my teachers and my parents who helped support me through this process,” Kwan said via news release.

Kwan was the only student from the high school to earn finalist status, Principal Carisa Burzynski noted.

"We congratulate him on this great accomplishment and wish him the best of luck as he pursues all future academic endeavors," Burzynski said. "He makes John H. Glenn proud!"
