Many writers, from Thomas Paine to Dr. Seuss, have used literature to raise people’s awareness and move them to action in a more inclusive, democratic direction. Join Michael Libresco-D’Innocenzo, professor of history at Hofstra University, for a discussion series that will examine this “Literature of Change.” You are encouraged to join the discussions whether or not you have read the selections.

Dr. Seuss

Underlying Dr. Seuss’s imaginative characters and unique verse was the voice of an activist seeking to raise the consciousness of children and adults alike to such issues as greed, bigotry, and environmental conservation.

A guest speaker for this session will be Kayla B. Rivara, one of Hofstra’s two Metzger-D’Innocenzo Endowed Center for Civic Engagement Interns.
