2:00 - 4:15pm - Workshop 4 ($40)- with Master Teacher Autumn Ward- Luscious Oriental: Modern Egyptian Steps and Old- School Glamour with Optional Floorwork

Autumn will teach a beguiling choreography to Setrak Sarkissian's Sahar.  This short but varied dance includes an entrance with graceful swirling steps, a heavier section with a beledi feeling, a fast-tempo passage of footwork and modern isolations, and a chiftitelli that will be taught two ways:  with variations for standing and floorwork (in an elegant Egyptian "golden age" style).
While open to all, this workshop uses challenging dance vocabulary, and is especially recommended for students looking to sharpen their skills and deepen their musical sensitivity.  Class will include a special section on technique for emotionally-resonant deeply-articulated undulations.

Floorwork is optional, and will be taught at the conclusion of class. While the floor vocabulary that will be used is gentle, those with physical concerns or limitations may prefer to observe.   If you plan to participate, please bring kneepads or a mat.

If you have an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the music ahead of time, please do!   (We'll be working with the beginning of the track, ending at the clean break at 3:26).
