Mary Cassatt: Impressionist
Program Description Welcome back Emilia Rabito Baer to our library for an informal art lecture on the great impressionist, Mary Cassatt. Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) succeeded in what was in the nineteenth century a predominantly male profession. She was the only American invited to exhibit with a group of independent artists later known as the Impressionists. She supported the right of women to be educated especially in the arts. Cassatt's favorite themes included portraits of mothers and children and women’s roles.
